Merz opposes new trade conflict with China

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he does not want a new trade conflict with China.

Axar.az reports, citing foreign media, that Merz made the remarks at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron following a meeting of the Franco-German Council of Ministers.

He said economic imbalances that are harming European industry should be addressed through negotiations.

"China also depends on the European market of 450 million consumers, and there is mutual dependence between the two sides," Merz said.
