Zelensky considers replacing army chief Syrskyi

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is considering the resignation of Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky and plans to meet with commanders this weekend to evaluate potential candidates to replace him, according to The Financial Times.

Axar.az reports, citing Ukrainian media, that, according to the publication, the head of state wants to personally hear assessments of the situation on the front and ensure that a possible change in leadership will not affect the stability of defense along the 1,200-kilometer front line.

The FT notes that one of the factors that pushed the president to take this step was the protests that, following the resignation of Mikhail Fedorov, have increasingly been directed against Syrsky personally.
