5.5 earthquake strikes near Kamchatka

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake has been recorded in waters southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the administrative center of Russia's Kamchatka region.

Axar.az reports according to the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences,the earthquake's epicenter was located at a depth of 20.9 kilometers, about 229 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Local residents said the tremors were also felt in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
