Araghchi: Turkiye blocked plan to divide Iran

Turkiye prevented a plan to divide Iran from being carried out during the 40-day war, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said.

Axar.az reports that Araghchi said Turkiye played an active role in preventing Kurdish armed groups from entering Iran from northern Iraq, thereby blocking what he described as efforts to divide the country.

"On the fourth day of the war, Donald Trump contacted the leaders of Kurdish armed groups opposed to Iran in northern Iraq and supported their entry into Iran by land," the minister said.

Araghchi added that after learning of the plan, he contacted officials from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, the Iraqi prime minister, and the Turkish foreign minister to convey Tehran's concerns.

According to the Iranian foreign minister, the Turkish government played an effective role in preventing the move and, alongside consultations with the United States, took a firm stance against the plan.
