US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the latest military strikes on Iran were carried out in honor of U.S. service members killed in recent days, while reiterating that Tehran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
Axar.az reports that Trump made the remarks after arriving at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
"We hit them very hard again tonight, and we did that in honor of probably three, rather than two, great patriots who were killed," Trump told reporters.
He also claimed that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz.
"We control the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran controls nothing," he said.
