Kallas announces new sanctions on Iran

The European Union has imposed new restrictive measures on Iranian judges accused of serious human rights violations, as well as a leading figure linked to a cyber group that enabled the Iranian government's repression.

Axar.az informs that EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas announced the decision on her X account.

"While the world's attention is on the war in the Middle East, we can't lose sight of Iran's repression against its own people," she said.

She noted that the sanctions target judges responsible for the persecution of political dissidents and religious minorities, as well as a prominent member of a cyber group accused of facilitating the regime's suppression of information.

Kallas stressed that as Tehran intensifies its domestic crackdown, the European Union will continue to hold those responsible accountable.
