Russia puts Pavel Durov on international wanted list

Telegram founder Pavel Durov has been placed on the international wanted list in connection with a case involving alleged assistance to terrorist activities.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) confirmed the information through its Public Relations Center.

"He has been placed on the international wanted list," the statement said.

Durov has been charged with aiding terrorist activities under Article 205.1, Part 1.1 of the Russian Criminal Code. The offense carries a prison sentence of between seven and 15 years.

The FSB said the Telegram administration failed to remove channels, chats, and bots allegedly used by Ukrainian intelligence services, as well as terrorist and extremist organizations, to carry out acts of sabotage, terrorist attacks, and mass killings in Russia. It also claimed that the messenger is used by cybercriminals whose activities have caused billions of rubles in financial damage.

The FSB further alleged that Ukrainian intelligence services used the Telegram dating chatbot "Daivinchik" to recruit young people into sabotage and terrorist activities.
