Russia claims capture of two Ukrainian settlements

Russian forces took control of the settlements of Novaya Sech in Ukraine's Sumy region and Svetloye in the Donetsk region over the past 24 hours.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that the Russian Defense Ministry made the announcement.

"Units of the North Group of Forces, as a result of active operations, established control over the settlement of Novaya Sech in the Sumy region," the ministry said.

"Units of the Center Group of Forces, through decisive actions, liberated the settlement of Svetloye in the Donetsk People's Republic," the statement added.
