Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to meet with the president of the world football governing body FIFA, Gianni Infantino, in Moscow on Friday, the Kremlin’s press service said. Infantino arrives in Russia to take part in the draw for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup will be held on November 26 in the city of Kazan.

Putin suggested that the FIFA chief should pay this visit during one of their meetings in Moscow in late April. At that meeting, Infantino told Putin that he feels like at home in Russia. "I have seen the progress, which is made in terms of preparation for the World Cup," he said. "We hope the championship that we are preparing will be held at the highest level."

Putin also met with Infantino in Moscow on June 1, when they took part in launching the 2018 World Cup volunteer campaign.
