Shooting reported at high school in Ohio, US

An active shooter was reported at a high school in Columbus, Ohio as police warned people to stay out of the area early Friday.

Axar.az reports citing Daily Sabah.

Officers were called Friday morning to Columbus Scioto, which is a few miles south of downtown Columbus. Shortly thereafter, the police department said on social media that SWAT officers had one person in custody. No details were immediately released.

Students and staff were reportedly evacuated while the police arrested the suspect, Colombus Ohio Police said.

"We have the suspect. We have the gun. And everyone is safe," police spokeswoman Denise Alex-Bouzounis told a news conference.

"We couldn't be happier with the outcome of this situation today."

Police would not disclose any details about the suspect, who was being questioned at police headquarters, according to Alex-Bouzounis.

The school serves grades six through 12, and is geared toward "emotionally disturbed students," according to Scioto school's website.
