US President Donald Trump was nominated for the third year in a row by a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize, the director of the Norwegian Institute for Peace Research, Henrik Urdal said.

“I can confirm that we were notified of the nomination of Trump and that he was nominated for a prize. Nevertheless, I can not say anything about who is behind his nomination, since this is confidential information. I can only say that [Trump] put forward an American,” Urdal said.

As a representative of the Norwegian Institute said, Trump was nominated for the award by the same person and with the same wording as in 2017.

The formulation reads: “For adherence to the ideology of the struggle for peace through the use of force.” In addition, among the achievements of Trump “for peace” is the revival of the US Strategic Defense Initiative to create an orbital super-powerful weapon that neutralizes nuclear arsenals.

Recall that in 2017, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the International Campaign for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (ICAN).

A certificate of honor and a check for 9 million Swedish kroner were presented to the ICAN executive director Beatrice Fin and the 85-year-old Japanese woman Setsuko Tarlou, who survived the bombing of Hiroshima.
