Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmud Qureshi sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres with a request to help reduce tensions in relations between Islamabad and New Delhi after the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14.

The diplomatic crisis began between India and Pakistan following the terrorist attack that killed 45 people. New Delhi and Islamabad withdrew their ambassadors for consultations. The Indian authorities accused Pakistan of supporting the group responsible for the attack.

"I would like urgently to draw your attention to the deterioration of the security situation in our region, which is provoked by the threat of India's use of force against Pakistan. It is essential to take steps to de-escalate the conflict. The UN should intervene to defuse the tension," the Minister said in his letter.

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan urged "India to conduct an open and credible investigation".
