During a teleconference of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made accusations against Turkey during discussions on the situation in the region.

Axar.az reports that Pompeo has accused Ankara of escalating tensions with its Mediterranean allies and buying an air defense system from Russia.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavushoglu reacted harshly to Pompeo's claim.

"You call European allies and create a front against Turkey. You blindly side with Greece in regional conflicts and refuse to sell air defense systems to Turkey. In addition, you support terrorist groups in Syria," Cavushoglu said.

At the same time, Cavushoglu said that at a time when Turkey is fighting ISIS, the United States supports terrorist groups in Syria, and the United States and France have worsened the conflict by supporting Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh.
