The Russian army together with the "Wagner" mercenary group has been suffering heavy losses every day because they have not been able to occupy the small town for months. According to various estimates, Russia lost about 30,000 fighters in these battles. "Wagner", who gained fame and money in Syria, Libya, and central African countries, faced the most severe deprivation in Bakhmut.
Axar.az reports that these words were noted by political scientist Elkhan Sahinoglu.
He said that the United States once offered Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to leave Bakhmut and organize defense behind. Zelensky disagreed and was right:
"The President of Ukraine explained why he should not leave Bakhmut with iron arguments: 1. If Bakhmut is handed over to Russian troops, Russian President Vladimir Putin will "sell" this victory to the West, his own society, China, Iran; 2. As a result of the handover of Bakhmut, Putin will "smell the smell of blood" and, thinking that the Ukrainians are weakened, will try to increase the pressure; 3. If Bakhmut is handed over to the Russians, the political processes inside Ukraine may go in an undesirable direction and the attitude of the Ukrainians to the government and the course of the war may change, our society will feel tired and will start to direct me to a compromise with Russia.
