Citizens of Kosovo have started their first trips to the Schengen area after gaining the right to travel without a visa.
Axar.az reports that Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurt and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Gervalla-Schwarz saw off the passengers who will go to Vienna without a visa at the airport.
In his speech, Prime Minister Kurti said that the injustice done to Kosovo has been eliminated with the entry into force of visa-free travel from 2024:
"We waited for a long time, we missed many opportunities, so today is an important day."
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Gervalla-Schwarz said that there is no more unnecessary bureaucracy. According to him, Kosovar businessmen will also have the opportunity to expand their fields of activity and bring better and more sustainable investments to the country.
From today, Kosovars can visit the Schengen area without a visa for up to 90 days. Thus, there is no country left in the Western Balkans that cannot go to the region in question without a visa.
