Armenian cyber security experts claim that Russian hacker groups are working against the state in Armenia.
Axar.az reports that Artur Papyan and Samvel Martirosyan, co-founders of the "CyberHUB-AM" group, said this.
"For many years, they thought that the cyber attack on Armenia came from Azerbaijan or Turkiye. But now experts are talking about attacks from other directions. "For at least ten years, Armenia, especially the employees of the diplomatic and military spheres, the political and journalistic community, has been under the attention of Russian hackers," the group's representatives said.
It is noted that the most active of these state hacker groups is the Russian APT 27 team:
For example, APT 27 targeted the Armenian military with a domain very similar to "mil.am" and created a fake "rnil.am" email login page. The same trick was used in the case of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. Russian hacker groups have very serious activities in Armenia. They have used many tools over the years. They repeatedly penetrated or attempted to penetrate the security forces, some areas of the Armenian economy, for example, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, consulates, and diplomatic services. In the world, we must accept the fact that Russia's cyber units always operate systematically and try to obtain information within the scope of their interests. It's like an axiom. It is also obvious that since there is a certain tension now, the activity will increase even more."
