A phone conversation was held between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
Axar.az reports that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared information about the call.
During the conversation, the situation arising from Israel’s military operation against Iranian territory was discussed.
The Iranian Foreign Minister provided information about the attack carried out by Israel, as well as Iran’s response.
Minister Bayramov expressed concern over the escalating tensions in the region.
He extended condolences regarding the deaths of the Chief of General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, other officials, and Iranian citizens. He also emphasized concern over the situation around nuclear facilities, highlighting the importance of resolving current issues through dialogue and diplomacy in line with international law and principles.
It was also stressed that Azerbaijani territory will not be used by any third country, including against neighboring and friendly Iran.
In view of Iran’s airspace being closed, Azerbaijan has facilitated land transit for representatives from various countries, including Iran.
Considering the risk of the conflict spreading across the wider region, the importance of restoring diplomatic efforts was once again underlined.
The ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
