Russian President Vladimir Putin requested State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin to convey to the Iranian leadership his expectation that cooperation between the two countries would continue to develop in the same manner.

Axar.az reports that Putin made this statement during a meeting with Volodin.

"We will do everything in our power to ensure that Russian-Iranian relations continue during this period. I request that you convey these words to the Iranian leadership," Putin said.

Volodin, in turn, emphasized that he would fly to Tehran early in the morning to attend the President's funeral ceremony.

According to him, the Iranian president had done a lot to develop relations between the two countries.

The State Duma Speaker added that he would carry out Putin's instructions and convey condolences.

It should be noted that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Ayatollah Ali Al-Hashim, the imam of Tabriz Friday prayers, and Malik Rahmati, the governor of East Azerbaijan province, were killed in a helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan province on May 19.
