I am deeply concerned by the reports of violence, torture, inhumane treatment, and even death, committed against ethnic Azerbaijanis by Russian security forces.

Axar.az reports that this was written by the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation in Baku, Ambassador Peter Mikhalko, on his X account.

"My thoughts are with the victims and their families," Mikhalko said in his post.

It should be noted that on the morning of June 27, the Russian Federal Security Service raided houses where Azerbaijanis lived in the city of Yekaterinburg. During the raid, 2 Azerbaijanis were killed and several others were detained. The killed Azerbaijanis are the brothers of the well-known journalist Seyfeddin Huseynli.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated on June 28 regarding the attacks by the Russian FSB on Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg. The Russian Chargé d'Affaires ad interim was summoned to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the incident in Yekaterinburg, and a strong protest was expressed.

After that, the Azerbaijani ambassador to Moscow was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
