On June 18, during the visit of Italian President Sergio Mattarella in Chisinau, the Declaration supporting the accession of Moldova to the European Union (EU) was signed.

Axar.az reports with reference to "Noi.md" website that the document was signed after discussions with the participation of the Italian leader and Moldovan President Maya Sandu.

At the joint press conference that followed, Sergio Mattarella confirmed his country's "full and unequivocal" support for the Republic of Moldova's entry into the European Union.

"Italy will help Moldova in the future to carry out the necessary reforms to reach European standards and will continue to do the same for Ukraine," Mattarella said.
