A peace treaty must be signed to end the war on the Korean peninsula. But North Korea has continued to develop weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, with numerous provocations over the past decade.

Axar.az reports that these words were said by South Korea's ambassador to Ankara, Jeong Yeondoo, in an interview with "Anadolu" agency.

Referring to the illegal arms trade between Russia and North Korea, the ambassador said that this will cause instability in Europe and the Middle East to affect Northeast Asia as well.

"South Korea has a strong defense and economy that can respond to any provocation from the North. However, North Korea needs to realize that its provocations will not ensure its prosperity and peace, and that it is a big mistake that will lead to the destruction of its country. Increasing military power and developing weapons of mass destruction will never help North Korea prosper and improve the livelihood of its people."
