Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has accused Senator Jeanne Shaheen of lying.

Axar.az reports that Georgian media has covered this.

Senator Shaheen, in an interview with "National Journal," stated that during her meeting with the prime minister, he requested the cessation of funding for all organizations that could criticize the Georgian Dream government.

Irakli Kobakhidze, however, denied making such a request.

“I have to make a firm statement about this. What Senator Shaheen said is a lie. I did not say such a thing during the meeting. It is unfortunate that someone with such a high status – a U.S. senator – would allow such a falsehood. This causes me great disappointment and concern,” Kobakhidze emphasized.

It should be noted that U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Congressman Mike Turner were in Georgia from August 9 to 11. They held meetings with representatives of the government, opposition, and NGOs.
