During the visit of the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, to Tehran, Iran asked Russia for new air defense systems. Moscow has already started supplying them.

Axar.az reports that the "New York Times" has published information about this with reference to its sources.

It is believed that the head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation discussed the issue of the supply of anti-aircraft defense systems with the Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Mohammad Bagiri.

Two Iranian officials confirmed to the NYT that Russia has already begun supplying radars and other air defense equipment.

It is said that all this was carried out against the background of a planned attack against Israel.
