Ukraine’s cross-border offensive boosts morale

Ukraine's bold plan to penetrate Russian territories has shocked Moscow. Ukrainian soldiers are confidently advancing, releasing footage from captured settlements deep within the Kursk region.

Axar.az informs that this was noted in a report prepared by "The Times."

"The Ukrainians are capturing more and more settlements. Kyiv's generals are becoming increasingly confident that their daring plan is succeeding. Ukraine has stunned Russia with a cross-border attack. Looking at the videos of the smiling soldiers, we can see that they are enjoying themselves. However, more than a week after the start of the operation, it remains unclear what Ukraine's final ambitions are," the report stated.

The report suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky might decide to consolidate his achievements and hold onto some of the Russian territories they have captured:

"Or he might withdraw and choose to launch an attack on another area. Why did Ukraine decide to attack Russia, and what is Zelensky trying to achieve?"

"The Times" also wrote that Ukraine has suffered terribly this year, with even the "Okhmatdet" children's oncology hospital in Kyiv being struck last month:

"Power outages in cities have become regular, and the destruction of Kyiv's largest power plant in April suggests that a cold and dark winter lies ahead. Ukrainian soldiers on the frontline in Donbas are surrendering to Russia's firepower, and Kharkiv has become accustomed to bomb attacks. However, after months of setbacks, Russia's minor advances have given the Ukrainians a morale boost. After two and a half years of relentless war, the footage of Ukrainian soldiers crossing the Russian border has lifted spirits."

Matthew Seville, Director of Military Sciences at the Royal United Services Institute in Britain, said that with this attack, Zelensky is also sending a message to his people and partners:

"With Germany rejecting requests for long-range Taurus missiles and the U.S. elections approaching, the future of aid to Ukraine remains uncertain. This is a signal to Europe and the U.S.: 'We are winning, support us. If we had more weapons, we could launch more such attacks.'
