The new Prime Minister of France, Michel Barnier, who was appointed today, made an illegal visit to the territories of Azerbaijan in 2021.

Axar.az reports that at that time M. Barnier visited the territories of the Armenian separatists in the territories of Azerbaijan together with the presidential candidate Valery Pekres in France.

The visit took place on December 21-23, 2021. M. Barnier, who made an illegal visit to the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, shared the statements of V. Pekres against Azerbaijan. Thus, those who illegally visited the Karabakh region suggested that the ambassador should be recalled from Azerbaijan and sanctions should be applied against official Baku.

Considering M. Barnier's previous position and actions, it can be safely assumed that after an anti-Azerbaijani president like Macron becomes the prime minister, the relations between the two countries will fall to an even lower level.
