Koran burner Nikita Juravel faces treason charges

A 20-year-old man, Nikita Juravel, who previously burned a Koran in Volgograd last year, has now been charged with treason.

Axar.az reports that according to the Volgograd region's prosecutor's office, the indictment against Juravel, who has a prior conviction, has been confirmed. He is accused under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (treason).

The report states that Juravel allegedly offered to collaborate with representatives of the Ukrainian security service via Messenger app. During interrogation, he fully confessed to his guilt.

It is noted that Juravel was previously sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for burning the Koran.
