Russian President Volodymyr Putin's decision on a visa-free regime for Georgian citizens is aimed at protecting humanitarian relations between the two countries.

Axar.az reports that Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov expressed this opinion to journalists.

According to Peskov, there is a fairly large Georgian diaspora in Russia. In addition, Russian tourists also visit Georgia:

"Interstate relations are in their place, if there is a dialogue between two peoples, humanitarian relations are also in their place."

It should be noted that V. Putin signed a decree ensuring visa-free travel of Georgian citizens to this country. The document enters into force on October 10. According to the document, the visa-free regime now applies to Georgian citizens who come to Russia for work or temporary stay for more than 90 days.
