Individuals in the new U.S. administration will not play a significant role in shaping foreign policy.

Axar.az reports that Armenian political analyst Tigran Grigoryan made this statement while commenting on the inclusion of pro-Armenian individuals in the new government of President Donald Trump.

He noted that similar trends were observed during Trump’s previous administration and are likely to continue under the new leadership:

“These trends will hinder Armenia more than help it. First and foremost, the U.S.'s self-isolation will significantly reduce Washington’s involvement in our region. This is an important factor. Trump’s policy is built on different agreements. We remember how he reached an understanding with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the issue of Kurds in Syria. The same could happen in our region.

Furthermore, the Trump administration’s stance on Iran is well-known. Increased U.S. pressure on Tehran will negatively impact Armenia. For this reason, Donald Trump’s return will only yield negative results for Yerevan. Consequently, Armenia may be forced to reconsider some of its foreign policy decisions.”
