EU approves €11 billion for joint weapon procurement

For the first time, the European Commission has approved funding for the joint procurement of weapons by EU member states, particularly missiles and ammunition. Some of these will be sent as aid to Ukraine.

Axar.az reports that the European Commission's press service released this information.

According to the report, five projects under the European Defense Industry Reinforcement through Common Procurement Act (EDIRPA) will receive EU financial support:

"These projects, involving 20 EU member states, have a total value exceeding €11 billion. Two projects pertain to the joint procurement of 'Mistral' and IRIS-T SLM air defense systems, two involve 155 mm ammunition, and one concerns armored personnel carriers."
