The opening of transportation communications between Azerbaijan and Armenia is not a new topic.

Axar.az reports that Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated this in a press briefing.

The minister noted that the 2020 Trilateral Statement includes a specific clause on this matter:

“There are obligations that Armenia has undertaken. This topic has been the subject of discussions for a long time. After more than three years of discussions, we believe the term 'agreement reached' is somewhat delayed. This agreement should have been achieved much earlier. If there is still no official document on the matter and Armenia has not initiated any actions, it means there are still unresolved issues. On the other hand, in Azerbaijan, work on creating transportation communication infrastructure has been progressing rapidly for a long time and will soon reach the border with Armenia.”

It should be noted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recently mentioned that a decision regarding the opening of regional communications might be made. He stated that Armenia and Azerbaijan are close to finding a mutually acceptable solution on the matter.
