43 detained during protest near Georgian parliament

Axar.az reports that according to Georgia's First Channel 43 people were arrested during a protest near the Georgian parliament.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that the arrests were made for failing to comply with police orders and for minor hooliganism. Some protesters were also involved in provocative actions during the demonstration.

Additionally, it was noted that 32 police officers were injured during the clashes.

It is worth mentioning that the day before, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced the suspension of the country's EU membership negotiations until 2028 and the rejection of EU grants. This led to large-scale protests in Tbilisi, where opposition groups, joined by President Zurabishvili, claimed a constitutional coup was taking place.
