Malta canceled the visa issued to Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council.

Axar.az reports that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released information about this.

The statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed "surprise" at this decision of Malta.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is also planning to visit Malta to attend the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OSCE. This will be the minister's first visit to EU countries after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022. It is not known whether Lavrov's visit will take place.

It should be noted that Lavrov and Maria Zakharova were sanctioned by EU, USA and Great Britain.
