The possible accession of Armenia to the European Union is its sovereign right, but being a member of two different international organizations is impossible.

Axar.az reports that Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated this regarding the Armenian government's approval of a draft law to initiate the EU membership process and its submission to parliament for discussion.

He noted that the EU independently initiates membership processes, and therefore it is necessary to wait for Brussels' reaction to Armenia's initiative.

"What does this EU membership [of Armenia] mean? It is hard to say for now because, hypothetically speaking, being a member of two different organizations is impossible," he said, emphasizing that membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is beneficial for Armenia.
