Turkish opposition MP leaves CHP

Adnan Beker, a member of parliament representing Ankara from Turkiye's Republican People's Party (CHP), has announced his resignation from the party.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that Beker made the announcement on his social media account.

"It saddens me to witness personal interests and irregularities prevailing within the CHP. The political course pursued under the current party leadership will yield no results. I am resigning from my membership in the CHP because I believe that continuing the political struggle within the existing structure will not benefit our country or our nation," Beker said.

He added that he would continue his political work as an independent MP for Ankara, striving for Turkiye's unity, solidarity, and peace.

It should be noted that a court recently annulled the results of the CHP's 38th Party Congress, held on November 4–5, 2023, removing Ozgur Ozel as party leader. Kemal Kilicdaroglu was subsequently appointed to lead the party. Several prominent figures have also announced their resignations amid the party's internal crisis.
