The Turkish Foreign Ministry has objected to the extension of the UN Security Council (SC) peacekeeping mission in Northern Cyprus.

Axar.az reports that the ministry stated this.

It was noted that the consent of Northern Cyprus was not obtained when the decision was made:

"On the other hand, we regret that the UN Security Council insists on referring to expired and off-the-agenda solution models."

It was stated that official Ankara will support all steps taken by Northern Cyprus.

"A just, permanent, and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue can only be found based on facts on the ground. We call on the UN Security Council to accept this reality and affirm the sovereign rights of the people of Northern Cyprus," the statement said.
