Turkiye may build two military bases in Syria and deploy F-16 fighter jets there.
Axar.az informs that this information was reported by the "Turkiye" newspaper, citing Arab sources.
"Arab sources claim that Turkiye and Syria will sign a joint defense agreement. Based on the agreement, which is expected to be signed soon, Ankara will assist Syria in case Damascus faces an unexpected threat. The agreement also foresees the Turkish Armed Forces providing training to the Syrian military and its pilots, and Turkiye building two military bases in Syria. To prevent any attack that might threaten the country's sovereignty, Turkiye will deploy 50 F-16 fighter jets at these bases," the report states.
The publication also noted that Syria's new administration has requested drones, radar systems, and electronic warfare equipment from Turkiye to monitor the border with Israel.
According to a source from Syria's Ministry of Defense cited by the newspaper, the initial supply of drones will take place in the coming days.
