Erdogan vows new Istanbul, new Turkiye by 2028

After 2028, we will build a new Istanbul, a new Turkiye. Until my last breath, I will experience the rightful pride of taking part in the AKP's struggle to serve the nation, homeland, and humanity.

Axar.az reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said these words during his speech at the 8th Congress of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) he leads in Istanbul.

Noting that 2.6 trillion lire have been spent in the last two years to eliminate the damage caused by the February 6 earthquakes and to reduce disaster risks, the Turkish President said that so far, the keys to 201,580 apartments and workplaces in the earthquake zone have been handed over to their owners. The construction of 45 percent of the apartments has been completed. Work is continuing rapidly to complete the remaining 252,000 apartments and workplaces. A total of 453,000 apartments and workplaces will be completed by the beginning of next year.

Recalling that, according to updated data, a total of 3 trillion 850 billion lire worth of state funds have been allocated to Istanbul in the last 22 years, the head of state said that there are currently 7.5 million risky independent units in this megalopolis and that urban development projects in this direction are continuing.
