Iran’s Vice President for Strategic Affairs, Mohammad Javad Zarif, has announced his resignation after a meeting with the head of the country’s judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i.
Axar.az, Zarif shared the news on his X social media account, stating:
"Yesterday, at the invitation of the esteemed head of the judiciary, I met with him. He referred to the country’s current situation and recommended that I return to the university to prevent further pressure on the government. I accepted without hesitation, as I have always sought to be a supporter rather than a burden. I express my deep gratitude to him for relieving me of this responsibility before God and the people. I sincerely hope that with my departure, any pretext for obstructing the will of the people and hindering the government’s success will be removed. I continue to take pride in my support for the esteemed Dr. Pezeshkian and extend my best wishes to him and all dedicated servants of the nation."
Zarif also revealed that over the past six months, he has endured insults, defamation, and threats but remained steadfast in his commitment to serving his country.
