US sanctions Thai officials for Uyghur deportation

The United States has imposed sanctions on Thai officials for their involvement in the deportation of at least 40 Uyghurs to China.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

According to Washington, representatives of this Muslim group may face persecution in China.

The State Department has stated that it intends to fight attempts to forcibly return Uyghurs and other groups to China.
