Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba outlined three potential scenarios for Ukraine's future. According to him, the most realistic scenario today is to stop everything along the line of military actions, not legally recognize the loss of territories, arm up, and live in a state of constant readiness for the resumption of war.
Axar.az reports "The worst-case scenario is that the Ukrainian state disappears from the world map. Everyone just shrugs. Maybe some 'fragment' will remain, but I doubt it," he said in an interview.
The "middle" scenario, he said, involves the war halting along the front lines, and Ukraine beginning to "prepare militarily." At the same time, Russia is preparing to fully resolve the Ukrainian issue.
"The best scenario is divided into two parts: short-term and long-term. In the short term, we hold our ground where we are, we are taken into the European Union, and we are armed to be able to repel a Russian attack. Russia does not resort to renewed aggression because it has its own problems. Then, Putin dies, and we get a chance to reclaim what we lost. At least partially," Kuleba described.
At the same time, the former minister emphasized that this is a super-optimistic scenario.
"Today, the realistic scenario is simply to stop everything along the line, not to legally recognize the loss of territories and NATO membership, drift towards Europe, arm ourselves, and live in a state of constant readiness for the resumption of war, hoping that this will never happen. This is the most realistic scenario that would align with Ukraine’s interests," Kuleba said.
