Last year, just before the municipal elections in Turkiye, Fateh Keleş (Kalash), the head of the IBB Sports Club and one of the closest people to Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul, was filmed collecting suitcases filled with money. The footage showed bundles of millions of lira on the table, being sorted and labeled by people around, and then placed in black travel suitcases.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that the court process regarding the footage recorded at the CHP Istanbul Headquarters began with the questioning of 22 individuals as suspects.

Today's operation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality is part of the investigation initiated after those images were captured.

As it was reported this morning, Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and several individuals were detained. İmamoğlu has been charged with links to a terrorist organization and corruption.
