We gained the majority in the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye (TBMM). However, we faced undesirable results in the municipal elections. You can see how much the losses in the municipalities have caused significant costs.

Axar.az reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated this during the AKP's TBMM Group meeting.

The Turkish leader also discussed recent events in the country:

"The funds transferred through taxes paid to the municipalities have been used for the benefit of some, rather than for providing work and services. It is clear that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and some district municipalities have written books about cannibalism. The irregular diplomas that started with the violation of the rights of hundreds of thousands of young people who passed the university entrance exam, followed by the scale of the disgrace of corruption spreading throughout the city, was revealed by the recent operations.

From the handing over of Istanbul residents' confidential information to foreigners to thefts worth hundreds of millions of lira, there is every kind of corruption. If you made a series about the corruption in CHP municipalities in Istanbul, you would find more adventures than Brazilian soap operas. These are crimes obtained from judgments coming from within the CHP before big facts came to light. As major facts emerge, they will not even have the courage to look at their own relatives. With so much theft and fraud happening, instead of shedding light on the allegations, the CHP leadership resorted to cheap politics. They tried to cover up the scandal by getting people out into the streets, creating chaos.

They are angry at those who catch the thieves, not at the ones who steal. They are trying to make the voters pay for the bribery scheme of the municipality chairmen. They are making the dangerous path they took even more inescapable. Furthermore, by shifting the blame onto us, they are attempting to distort the facts. When there was a disagreement about the distribution of corruption funds, someone went to court and explained what happened. Those who allowed corruption, took bribes, obtained diplomas through parachute jumps, and trampled on the rights of hundreds of thousands of young people are also members of the CHP. Those who transfer money to their companies through criminal organizations they created are also members of the CHP. Those who confessed during the investigation and leaked information are from the CHP. Those who filed complaints in court regarding the stigma during the congress are CHP members. The ones whose thefts have been exposed on screen are CHP members, but the guilty party is the AKP. Where can we be in such an internal reckoning? Why are you accusing us with the legal process that began in your own struggle? In the recent event, the thieves fought each other, partners betrayed each other, went to court, and provided information about it. Now, we are witnessing the aftershocks of it. Like everyone else, we are waiting for the judicial system to do its job and for those found guilty by the courts to be punished. As the president of the republic, we, of course, take every step for the rights of our citizens. In doing so, we do not step outside of our duties and responsibilities.

I remind the CHP leadership: no matter how low you sink the level, it is useless. Your corruption cycle has been exposed. Stop throwing accusations left and right. Stop trying to get support from us in the arm-wrestling within your party. Do not try to drag us and our nation into the pit you are in. If you have any respect for yourselves, be a little honest and transparent."
