The US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security has added 80 organizations to the sanctions list, more than 50 of which are Chinese companies.
Axar.az reports that this information was shared in the bureau's statement.
The companies listed face export restrictions. Specifically, US companies are prohibited from supplying goods and technologies to these organizations without the approval of the US government.
"We will not allow our competitors to use US technologies to strengthen their armies and threaten the lives of Americans," said US Secretary of Commerce Howard Latnik.
As noted by the Department of Commerce, many Chinese companies were blacklisted due to their potential involvement in the development of artificial intelligence, supercomputers, and high-tech chips that the country may later use for military purposes. Two companies were added to the list for violating sanctions against “Huawei.”
Companies from Taiwan, Iran, Pakistan, South Africa, and the UAE were also added to the sanctions list.
