Starting from April 8, lemon exports from Turkiye will be temporarily suspended.

Axar.az reports Turkiye’s Ministry of Trade explained the decision by citing unfavorable weather conditions in citrus-growing regions and the necessity to protect domestic demand.

According to statistics from the Mediterranean Exporters Association, Turkiye exported a total of 1.639 million tons of citrus fruits in 2024. These exports brought in $1.046 billion in revenue.

Russia was the top importer of Turkish citrus fruits in 2024, purchasing $375 million worth of products. Iraq ranked second with $197 million, followed by Ukraine with $108 million.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan imports around 20,000 tons of lemons annually, and Turkiye is among the supplying countries.
