Hamas agrees to release more hostages in two-stage deal

Hamas has agreed to release more hostages in a two-stage process and to provide updated information on those still held, according to Saudi state-owned Al-Arabiya on Sunday night. Mediators are in the final stages of preparing a ceasefire agreement, with the U.S. pushing for a deal before the end of the month.

Axar.az, citing JP, reports that talks on removing Hamas's senior leadership from Gaza have been deferred for now.

On Sunday, a Hamas source told Saudi-owned "Asharq" that a Hamas delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya would travel to Cairo to meet with top Egyptian and Qatari officials as part of ongoing ceasefire negotiations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the family of hostage Eitan Mor on Sunday that current negotiations are focused on releasing 10 hostages in one phase. Meanwhile, negotiations continue among Israel, Egypt, and the U.S. to reconcile the Egyptian proposal with Israel's position.

Israeli officials told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday that there has been “some movement” in the talks. U.S. President Donald Trump also stated that the U.S. is “close to getting hostages in Gaza back.”
