Armenia analyzing impact of new U.S. sanctions on Iran

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has addressed the question of how new U.S. sanctions against Iran will affect economic ties between Yerevan and Tehran.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenpress, that speaking at a press briefing, the Prime Minister emphasized that decisions on sanctions against Iran are multifaceted, so it is first necessary to study the content of those decisions, understand how the sanctions actually affect transactions, what risks exist, and, in general, what falls under the wording of the sanctions.

“Since the process is extensive, we are in the process of analyzing it, including with the support of international partners, so that we understand everything correctly and everything is done correctly,” he said.

The Prime Minister recalled that previously, when sanctions were also imposed against Russia, Armenia, as a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, organized its trade turnover in such a way that the sanctions did not affect that process.

“I am saying this based on previous experience: decisions sometimes also change. It is a flexible working process,” he added.
