Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) carried out a drone strike on a strategic fuel storage facility near Wad Madani in central Sudan’s Al Jazirah state on Sunday.

Axar.az reports, citing Sudan Tribune, that the attack targeted the Um Aleila fuel depot near Abu Haraz, about 20 kilometers northeast of Wad Madani, in the early hours of Sunday.

Security sources said several explosions were heard after the strike, while witnesses reported thick black smoke rising from storage tanks at the facility.

Um Aleila is a major petroleum storage and distribution hub supplying gasoline and diesel to Al Jazirah and neighboring regions.

The facility was previously looted and damaged when the RSF seized Wad Madani in December 2023. The RSF has not commented on Sunday’s attack.
