The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) has rescheduled its sixth congress to February 8, 2018, due to the announcement of the extraordinary presidential election in the country.

Axar.az reports that a presidential candidate from the ruling party will be officially nominated during the Congress.

In addition, party’s chairperson and deputy chairpersons, and members of the party’s Board and Political Council will be reelected at the Congress.

The ruling New Azerbaijan Party planned to hold its sixth congress in May this year.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order on Feb. 5 announcing the early presidential election for April 11.
