It is enough to look at the maps published by Tsarist Russia at the beginning of the 20th century to see that the absolute majority of toponyms in the territory of present-day Armenia are of Azerbaijani origin. There is no lake called "Lake Sevan" on those maps. There is Lake Goycha on those maps, and all our other historical toponyms used by us are reflected there.
Axar.az reports that with these words, historian Zaur Aliyev once again confirmed the speech of President Ilham Aliyev at the 80th anniversary of ANAS.
He said that after President Ilham Aliyev's speech at the 80th anniversary meeting of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Armenians began sharing fake maps on social media, allegedly showing the name "Sevan" on ancient maps:
"Now, in response to them, I present the research on the naming of the lake by the Armenian SSR and the USSR.
