Suleyman Shukurov wins second U-21 European judo title

Another Azerbaijani judoka has won a gold medal at the U-21 European Championships held in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.

Axar.az reports that Suleyman Shukurov, competing in the 90 kg weight category, defeated Germany's Konstantin Distel by ippon, becoming the continental champion for the second time in his career.

Davud Namazli (100 kg) and Ramazan Ahmadov (+100 kg) finished the competition with bronze medals.

With this, Azerbaijani judokas completed the European Championships with a total of 5 medals. Earlier, Aykhan Mirzazade (60 kg) and Mahammad Musayev (66 kg) had become European champions.

It should be noted that 400 judokas (222 boys, 178 girls) from 44 countries took part in the European Championships. Azerbaijan was represented by 14 judokas (9 boys, 5 girls) across 10 weight categories.
